# WordPress User Frontend plugin: unauthenticated stored script injection via taxonomy field

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-109214 (this .md is for agents)

The User Frontend WordPress plugin up to and including 4.3.13 does not sanitize a taxonomy field parameter, so attackers can store scripts that run in visitors' browsers. An unauthenticated attacker can inject script into pages that execute whenever a user opens the affected page.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- wordpress:wp-user-frontend affected <= 4.3.13 fixed 4.3.14

## How to check

- In WordPress admin > Plugins, check the User Frontend version; 4.3.13 or lower is affected, 4.3.14 is fixed.
- Check whether any frontend form has a Taxonomy field in text-input mode and guest post submission enabled; without both, the reported exploit conditions are not met.
- Also review existing guest submissions and category/taxonomy names for script tags, and be careful opening forms in the builder as an admin until updated.

## Fix

Update the User Frontend plugin (wp-user-frontend) to 4.3.14 or later (released 28 Oct 2026).

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T12:53:31+00:00 analyst https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/wordpress-plugins/wp-user-frontend/user-frontend-4313-unauthenticated-stored-cross-site-scripting-via-taxonomy-field-text-input — Fixed in 4.3.14 per vendor GitHub release changelog (names CVE-2026-109214). Affected range and conditions from Wordfence, not verified. No exploitation or PoC seen. Vendor says admin opening form in builder triggers script; NVD says visitors.

## From the sources

The User Frontend – Membership, User Registration, User Profile, User Directory & Content Restriction with Frontend Post Submission plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the '<taxonomy_field_name> (default: 'category')' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.3.13 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires the target installation to have configured a Taxonomy field in text-input mode with guest post submission enabled on at least one frontend form.
