# WP Directory Kit WordPress plugin: unauthenticated SQL injection leaks database data

The WP Directory Kit plugin for WordPress does not properly escape the 'idfield' parameter before building a SQL query. An unauthenticated attacker can append extra SQL queries to read sensitive information from the site's database.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- wordpress:wpdirectorykit affected <= 1.6.0 fixed 1.6.1

## How to check

- WordPress admin > Plugins: if WP Directory Kit (slug wpdirectorykit) is active and the version is 1.6.0 or lower, you are exposed.
- WP-CLI: wp plugin get wpdirectorykit --field=version (anything <= 1.6.0 is vulnerable; 1.6.1 is fixed per WPScan and WordSec).

## Fix

Update WP Directory Kit to 1.6.1 or later (WordPress admin > Plugins > Update).

## Timeline

- 2026-10-31T10:34:55+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-109197
- 2026-10-31T10:37:02+00:00 analyst — Fixed in 1.6.1 per WPScan and WordSec (third-party trackers; vendor changelog not read, so nothing marked verified). Plugin is still maintained on wordpress.org (2,000+ installs, tested with 7.1.4). No exploitation or PoC found. Unauthenticated SQLi, CVSS 7.5 by Wordfence.

## Documents

- [advisory] WPScan: WP Directory Kit < 1.6.1 Unauthenticated SQLi via idfield https://wpscan.com/plugin/wpdirectorykit/
- [advisory] WordSec: CVE-2026-109197 patched in 1.6.1 https://wordsec.net/vulnerabilities/plugins/wpdirectorykit/wp-directory-kit-160-unauthenticated-sql-injection-via-idfield-parameter
- [mentions] WP Directory Kit on WordPress.org (active, 2,000+ installs) https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpdirectorykit/

## From the sources

The WP Directory Kit plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to generic SQL Injection via the 'idfield' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.6.0 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
