# Apache Kylin: default startup profile omits security settings, weakening deployments

Apache Kylin's default startup profile leaves out security settings, so a default deployment runs without them. The sources do not say what an attacker can do beyond that, and the description does not name the specific missing settings.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Look at the startup profile Kylin uses by default and confirm whether the security settings profile is enabled, as the description says deployments with it on are not affected.
- Check the Kylin version with the install's version file or `unknown` if the sources do not give a command.

## Fix

- Upgrade Apache Kylin to `5.0.5`, which the sources say fixes the issue.
- Enable the security settings profile if upgrading is not possible, per the advisory's note that deployments with it on are not affected.

## Timeline

## From the sources

Default startup profile miss security settings in Apache Kylin. Any deployment has security setting profile turned on does not impact.

This issue affects Apache Kylin: from 4.0.0 through 5.0.4.

Users are recommended to upgrade to version 5.0.5, which fixes the issue.
