# ERPNext: sales report exposes financial rows beyond user permissions

ERPNext's Sales Person-wise Transaction Summary report skips document permission checks on some endpoints. A logged-in user with a limited role can read financial transaction data they should not see.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed ERPNext version with `bench version` or the app list in the Frappe bench; versions before `15.118.0` or `16.27.0` are affected.
- Review whether any role-limited users can open the Sales Person-wise Transaction Summary report.

## Fix

- Upgrade ERPNext to `15.118.0` (15.x branch) or `16.27.0` (16.x branch).
- Until upgraded, restrict access to the Sales Person-wise Transaction Summary report to trusted roles.

## Timeline

## From the sources

ERPNext is a free and open source Enterprise Resource Planning tool. Prior to 15.118.0 and 16.27.0, certain endpoints in the Sales Person-wise Transaction Summary report fail to enforce proper authorization checks. When a role-limited authenticated user requests the affected financial report, the query can query financial transaction rows without applying the requesting user's document permission match conditions. This allows the user to read financial data beyond the user's permitted role. This issue is fixed in versions 15.118.0 and 16.27.0.
