# BuddyForms WordPress plugin: unauthenticated stored cross-site scripting via form parameter

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-107658 (this .md is for agents)

The BuddyForms plugin for WordPress does not sanitize or escape the bf_post_type and buddyforms_form_content parameters in versions up to and including 2.10.5. An unauthenticated attacker can store scripts that run in the browser of anyone who opens an affected page.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed BuddyForms plugin version in the WordPress admin Plugins screen or in the plugin's main file header; versions up to and including `2.10.5` are listed as affected.
- Check whether any BuddyForms form has public submissions enabled, since the sources say that is required for exploitation.
- Check whether the active theme registers a widgetized sidebar, which the sources say is also required.

## Fix

- BuddyForms plugin: the sources do not name a fixed version; unknown.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-06T12:41:48+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-107658

## From the sources

The BuddyForms plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'bf_post_type (and buddyforms_form_content)' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 2.10.5 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires that at least one BuddyForms form with public submissions enabled exists on the site (so that the required nonce can be harvested from the public form page) and that the active theme registers a widgetized sidebar, allowing the injected customize_changeset to place a malicious Custom HTML widget into the site's front end.
