# Blaze Demo Importer WordPress plugin: uploaded SVG runs JavaScript in visitors' browsers

The Blaze Demo Importer WordPress plugin before 1.0.17 does not sanitize uploaded SVG files and registers the SVG MIME type unconditionally. An author-level user can upload an SVG that runs arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of anyone who opens it.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed version of the Blaze Demo Importer plugin in the WordPress admin plugin list; affected if below `1.0.17`
- Look for the plugin directory `wp-content/plugins/blaze-demo-importer` on the server

## Fix

- Update the Blaze Demo Importer plugin to `1.0.17` or later
- Until updated, deactivate the plugin or remove SVG upload support for Author-level accounts

## Timeline

- 2026-10-23T21:57:17+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-106933

## From the sources

The Blaze Demo Importer WordPress plugin before 1.0.17 does not sanitize uploaded SVG files and registers the SVG MIME type for the WordPress media library unconditionally, allowing authenticated users with the Author role or higher to upload a crafted SVG that executes arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of any user who opens the file.
