# KendoReact Menu: unsafe item URL lets attacker run JavaScript in app

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-106134 (this .md is for agents)

The Menu component in the @progress/kendo-react-layout package does not sanitize URLs in menu items, so a crafted item URL runs JavaScript in the application's origin when a user selects it. An attacker who can influence menu item data can read session data or act as the signed-in user.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed version: `npm ls @progress/kendo-react-layout`
- Look for Menu components whose item data comes from user input or external sources.

## Fix

- `@progress/kendo-react-layout` versions 1.3.0 through 16.1.0 are affected; the sources do not state a fixed version.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-06T17:43:12+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-106134

## From the sources

Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in the Menu component (@progress/kendo-react-layout) in Progress Software KendoReact versions 1.3.0 through 16.1.0 allows a low-privileged attacker who can influence the Menu item data to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the origin of the application via an unsafe URL in a Menu item, which runs when a user selects the item.
