# Management control functions let a privileged remote user run root commands

Improper input validation in management control functions lets a remote attacker with high privileges inject operating system commands. The injected commands run with root privileges.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

unknown: the CERT@VDE advisory that names the product is not yet found. Once it is, check device firmware against its affected-versions table. Meanwhile, list devices whose remote management interface is reachable and who holds admin accounts on them.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-03T09:19:50+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-105978
- 2026-11-03T09:22:15+00:00 analyst — NVD page returned empty; CVE text (CWE-20/78-style OS command injection in management control functions, root, PR:H, CVSS 7.2 CNA v3 per VulDB, 8.6 v4) confirmed only via VulDB mirror. CERT@VDE advisory index (through Nov 2) and searches show no matching advisory; product, versions and fix remain unknown. Revisit once certvde.com publishes. Fix status left unknown, not claimed none; nothing marked verified.

## From the sources

Improper input validation in management control functions may allow a remote attacker with high privileges to inject operating system commands and execute them with root privileges.
