# libosmocore: out-of-bounds read in CBSP decoder lets remote attackers crash

libosmocore, a library used in open-source cellular network software, has an out-of-bounds read in its CBSP WRITE-REPLACE message decoder in src/gsm/cbsp.c. A remote attacker can send a crafted message to cause a denial of service.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed libosmocore version with `pkg-config --modversion libosmocore` and compare against `1.14.1`
- Search your build and dependency trees for `cbsp.c` from libosmocore
- unknown whether other checks apply

## Fix

- Move to a libosmocore release newer than `1.14.1` once a fixed version is published; the sources do not name one
- unknown whether a configuration change mitigates it

## Timeline

- 2026-10-26T19:32:06+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-104592

## From the sources

libosmocore through 1.14.1 contains an out-of-bounds read in the CBSP WRITE-REPLACE decoder in src/gsm/cbsp.c. This allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
