# WPJAM Basic WordPress plugin: unauthenticated signup can create Administrator accounts

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-103900 (this .md is for agents)

The WPJAM Basic plugin for WordPress lets an unauthenticated visitor supply a user role during social-login signup, so the new account can be created as Administrator. An attacker who gets this gains full control of the WordPress site.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check whether the WPJAM Basic plugin is installed and at what version (plugin list in the WordPress admin, or `wp plugin list` with WP-CLI).
- Check whether a social-login provider is registered and open user registration is enabled in WordPress settings (Settings > General > Membership).
- Review recently created Administrator accounts for unknown users.

## Fix

- WPJAM Basic: unknown (no fixed version is stated in the sources).

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T10:46:39+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-103900

## From the sources

The WPJAM Basic plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in versions up to, and including, 7.1 This is due to the WPJAM_User_Signup::signup() function unpacking attacker-supplied `data[args]` from the AJAX POST body and merging it via PHP array union into the payload passed to WPJAM_User::create(), whose internal whitelist (wpjam_pick) explicitly preserves the `role` key before it is handed to wp_insert_user(). The endpoint is registered as wp_ajax_nopriv_{provider}-signup with a nonce that is emitted on the public login page. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to elevate their privileges to Administrator by creating a new user with an attacker-chosen role, provided a social-login provider is registered and open registration is enabled.
