# ServiceNow AI Platform: plaintext passwords stored in a system table

ServiceNow AI Platform could save a user's plaintext password in a system table. A user who is not entitled to see that password could read it there.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:ServiceNow AI Platform affected Xanadu < Patch 11 HF7a; Yokohama < Patch 13 HF4a; Zurich < Patch 10 HF3a, < Patch 11 HF1, < Patch 12, < Patch 13; Australia < Patch 2 HF3b, < Patch 4 HF1, < Patch 5 fixed Xanadu Patch 11 Hot Fix 7a, Yokohama Patch 13 Hot Fix 4a, Zurich Patch 10 Hot Fix 3a, Zurich Patch 11 Hot Fix 1, Zurich Patch 12, Zurich Patch 13, Australia Patch 2 Hot Fix 3b, Australia Patch 4 Hot Fix 1, Australia Patch 5

## How to check

Compare your instance's build (System Diagnostics > Stats, or stats.do) against the fixed releases for your family. Exposure of stored plaintext in the system table is not documented; confirm with ServiceNow KB.

## Fix

Upgrade to a patched family release: Xanadu Patch 11 Hot Fix 7a, Yokohama Patch 13 Hot Fix 4a, Zurich Patch 10 Hot Fix 3a / Patch 11 Hot Fix 1 / Patch 11m / Patch 12 / Patch 13, Australia Patch 2 Hot Fix 3b / Patch 4 Hot Fix 1 / Patch 4m / Patch 5 (per CVE record; confirm in ServiceNow KB). Self-hosted/managed customers: ServiceNow patches hosted instances; check your instance version under System Diagnostics > Stats.

- 2026-10-29T19:31:46+00:00 analyst — ServiceNow's own KB (support.servicenow.com, linked from the CVE record) is login-gated and I could not read it. Affected/fixed builds come from the CNA record mirrored at db.gcve.eu, so nothing is marked verified. Whether a specific feature is needed is not stated. CVE title there says 'Cleartext Storage of OAuth Credentials'. No exploitation known per vendor.

## From the sources

ServiceNow has remediated an information disclosure vulnerability that was identified in the ServiceNow AI Platform. This vulnerability could cause a user's plaintext password to be persisted in a system table, potentially exposing that password to a user who otherwise would not be entitled to view it.

ServiceNow remediated the vulnerability through security updates that address the unintended persistence of plaintext credentials. We are not currently aware of malicious exploitation against ServiceNow instances. We recommend customers promptly apply appropriate updates or upgrade to a patched release if they have not already done so.
