# TP-Link RE305 V3: unauthenticated region change disrupts Wi-Fi service

The country or region setting on the TP-Link RE305 V3 range extender can be changed without authorization. An attacker on the same local network can force the device to reapply its wireless configuration, causing Wi-Fi drops, unavailable channels and client disconnections.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Log in to the device admin page and check the country or region setting under wireless settings.
- Check the firmware version in the device admin page against the vendor advisory; the sources do not give affected versions.

## Fix

- Update the RE305 V3 firmware to a version the vendor lists as fixed; the sources do not name the version.
- Restrict access to the device admin interface to trusted hosts on the local network.

## Timeline

## From the sources

An authorization vulnerability exists in the country or region configuration interface of TP-Link RE305 V3. An unauthenticated attacker on the same local network may modify the wireless regulatory region and force the device to reapply its wireless configuration.

Successful exploitation may cause wireless connection interruptions, unavailable channels, client disconnections, or wireless service instability, and may cause the device to apply parameters intended for a different regulatory region.
