# Oracle E-Business Suite: Installed Base flaw exposes critical data over HTTP

Oracle E-Business Suite's Installed Base module has a flaw in its Create Item Instance component that lets a low-privileged user reach the application over HTTP. A successful attack can read all Installed Base data and modify or delete some of it, and can affect other products in the suite.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Confirm the Oracle E-Business Suite release in use: unknown whether the sources list a version check command or file.
- Check whether Installed Base is in use in your E-Business Suite instance: unknown whether the sources give a setting to inspect.

## Fix

- Apply the Oracle Security Alert or Critical Patch Update that covers this CVE: unknown which patch number the sources name.
- Move to a fixed release of E-Business Suite 12.2: unknown which version the sources name as fixed.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-23T21:57:23+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-101849

## From the sources

Vulnerability in the Installed Base product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Create Item Instance). Supported versions that are affected are 12.2.3-12.2.15. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Installed Base. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Installed Base, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Installed Base accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Installed Base accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.6 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).
