# MySQL Server and Cluster: client programs flaw lets low-privilege users crash the server

A flaw in the Client programs component of MySQL Server and MySQL Cluster lets a low-privileged attacker with network access hang or repeatedly crash the server. The impact is denial of service only, and exploitation is described as difficult.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `mysqld --version` on each database host and compare against the affected range `26.7.0` to `26.7.1`.
- For MySQL Cluster, check the version of the management and data nodes the same way.

## Fix

- Upgrade MySQL Server to a release after `26.7.1` as published in Oracle's security advisory (fixed version unknown from these sources).
- Upgrade MySQL Cluster to a release after `26.7.1` (fixed version unknown from these sources).

## From the sources

Vulnerability in the MySQL Server, MySQL Cluster product of Oracle MySQL (component: Client programs). Supported versions that are affected are MySQL Server: 26.7.0-26.7.1; MySQL Cluster: 26.7.0-26.7.1. Difficult to exploit vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server, MySQL Cluster. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server, MySQL Cluster. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 5.3 (Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).
