# Oracle E-Business Suite Payroll: low-privilege users can read and change some payroll data

Oracle Payroll in E-Business Suite 12.2.3 through 12.2.15 has a flaw in the Internal Operations component that lets a low-privileged user reached over HTTP read and modify some payroll data. Exploitation needs a second person to interact with the attack, and it can reach beyond Payroll into other products.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Confirm the E-Business Suite release in use is within `12.2.3` through `12.2.15`
- Check whether the Oracle Payroll module is installed and reachable over HTTP
- Review the Oracle Critical Patch Update advisory for the Payroll patch level (unknown from these sources)

## Fix

- Apply the Oracle Critical Patch Update fix for Oracle E-Business Suite Payroll, moving past `12.2.15` (exact patch name unknown from these sources)

## Timeline

Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Payroll accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Payroll accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 5.4 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N).
