# MySQL Server: InnoDB flaw lets a privileged user crash the server

A flaw in the InnoDB storage engine of MySQL Server and MySQL Cluster lets a high-privilege account cause a hang or repeatable crash over the network. The impact is denial of service only; the sources do not report data theft or code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `SELECT VERSION();` on each MySQL Server and MySQL Cluster node and compare against the affected ranges: 9.7.0 through 9.7.3, and 26.7.0 through 26.7.1.
- Confirm which accounts hold high privileges on the server; the sources say the attacker must be a high-privilege user.

## Fix

- Upgrade MySQL Server and MySQL Cluster to a release after the affected ranges (9.7.3 and 26.7.1 are the last affected versions listed; the fixed version is unknown from the sources).
- Apply Oracle's July 2026 Critical Patch Update when it is available for your build.

## From the sources

Vulnerability in the MySQL Server, MySQL Cluster product of Oracle MySQL (component: InnoDB). Supported versions that are affected are MySQL Server: 9.7.0-9.7.3, 26.7.0-26.7.1; MySQL Cluster: 9.7.0-9.7.3 and 26.7.0-26.7.1. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server, MySQL Cluster. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server, MySQL Cluster. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 4.9 (Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).
