# Helidon: unauthenticated HTTP requests can modify data and cause partial denial of service

Oracle's Helidon Java framework has a flaw in its helidon-common-mapper component, affecting versions 4.0.0 through 4.5.5 and 27.0.0. A remote unauthenticated attacker sending HTTP requests can create, delete or modify some data and read a subset of data, and can partly crash the service.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the Helidon version in the project's dependency file (for example `pom.xml` or `build.gradle`) for `helidon` at `4.0.0` through `4.5.5` or `27.0.0`
- Confirm whether `helidon-common-mapper` is on the classpath, for example with `mvn dependency:tree`

## Fix

- Upgrade Helidon to a release outside the affected range (4.0.0-4.5.5 and 27.0.0), following Oracle's advisory for the fixed version, which the sources do not name

## Timeline

## From the sources

Vulnerability in the Helidon product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: helidon-common-mapper). Supported versions that are affected are 4.0.0-4.5.5 and 27.0.0. Difficult to exploit vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Helidon. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized creation, deletion or modification access to critical data or all Helidon accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Helidon accessible data and unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service (partial DOS) of Helidon. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.0 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:L).
