# Helidon: HTTP auth provider flaw exposes data to unauthenticated network attackers

The helidon-security-providers-http-auth component of Oracle's Helidon framework has a flaw that lets an unauthenticated attacker reach data over HTTP. Successful exploitation can expose critical data or all data accessible to Helidon, per the NVD description.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the Helidon version in the project's dependency file (for example `pom.xml` or `build.gradle`) and look for `helidon-security-providers-http-auth`
- Confirm whether the affected versions 3.0.0-3.2.21, 4.0.0-4.5.5 or 27.0.0 are in use

## Fix

- Upgrade Helidon to a version outside the affected ranges (3.0.0-3.2.21, 4.0.0-4.5.5, 27.0.0); the fixed version is unknown from the sources
- Check Oracle's security advisory for the patched release

## Timeline

- 2026-10-23T21:57:22+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-101573

## From the sources

Vulnerability in the Helidon product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: helidon-security-providers-http-auth). Supported versions that are affected are 3.0.0-3.2.21, 4.0.0-4.5.5 and 27.0.0. Difficult to exploit vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Helidon. While the vulnerability is in Helidon, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Helidon accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 6.8 (Confidentiality impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N).
