# Oracle E-Business Suite Purchasing: Approvals flaw exposes and changes some data

The Approvals component of Oracle Purchasing in E-Business Suite 12.2.3 through 12.2.15 can be attacked over HTTP without logging in, if a user is tricked into an interaction. An attacker can read and modify a subset of purchasing data, and the scope change means other products may be affected too.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed E-Business Suite release and Purchasing patch level in Oracle's support tools (version not stated in the sources beyond `12.2.3` to `12.2.15`)
- unknown for other specific checks: the sources do not say which file or setting to inspect

## Fix

- Apply the Oracle Critical Patch Update fix for E-Business Suite Purchasing; the exact patch is unknown from the sources
- Move to a release outside `12.2.3` through `12.2.15` as Oracle directs

## Timeline

## From the sources

Vulnerability in the Oracle Purchasing product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Approvals). Supported versions that are affected are 12.2.3-12.2.15. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Purchasing. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Purchasing, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Purchasing accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Purchasing accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 6.1 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N).
