# Oracle E-Business Suite Payroll: low-privileged user can alter payroll data

A flaw in the Element Types, Links and Entries component of Oracle Payroll in E-Business Suite lets a low-privileged user with network access over HTTP create, change or delete payroll data. The attacker gets write access to critical data, but the sources report no confidentiality or availability loss.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Confirm the Oracle E-Business Suite release: unknown if the sources list a patch-level check command
- Check whether Oracle Payroll is installed and at a release in the `12.2.3` to `12.2.15` range (sources state these as affected)

## Fix

- Apply the Oracle Critical Patch Update fix for Oracle Payroll in E-Business Suite; the exact patch number is unknown from these sources
- Move Oracle Payroll to a supported release newer than `12.2.15`, per Oracle's advisory

## Timeline
