# Oracle REST Data Services: low-privilege HTTP flaw exposes critical data

Oracle REST Data Services versions 24.2.0 through 26.2.2 have a flaw in the Core component that lets a low-privileged user reach data beyond their rights over HTTP. An attacker with a basic account could read all data the service can access, and the scope change means other products using it may be hit too.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Oracle REST Data Services version with `java -jar ords.war version` or the version shown in the ORDS admin page (unknown if the exact command is not in the sources)
- Confirm whether the version falls in `24.2.0` to `26.2.2`

## Fix

- Upgrade Oracle REST Data Services to a version later than `26.2.2` (the exact fixed version is unknown from the sources)
- Check the Oracle Critical Patch Update advisory for the patched release

## Timeline

## From the sources

Vulnerability in Oracle REST Data Services (component: Core). Supported versions that are affected are 24.2.0-26.2.2. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle REST Data Services. While the vulnerability is in Oracle REST Data Services, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle REST Data Services accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.7 (Confidentiality impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N).
