# Oracle REST Data Services: unauthenticated HTTP flaw exposes and alters some data

Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) Core has a flaw that an unauthenticated attacker on the network can reach over HTTP. If a person other than the attacker takes an action, the attacker can read a subset of accessible data and insert, update or delete some of it.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed ORDS version against the affected range `24.2.0` to `26.1.0`, for example with `java -jar ords.war version` or the version shown in the ORDS installation.
- unknown for other checks; the sources do not describe configuration details.

## Fix

- Move Oracle REST Data Services to a version outside `24.2.0` to `26.1.0` as published in Oracle's Critical Patch Update advisory (unknown exact fixed version in the sources).

## Timeline

## From the sources

Vulnerability in Oracle REST Data Services (component: Core). Supported versions that are affected are 24.2.0-26.1.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle REST Data Services. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle REST Data Services accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle REST Data Services accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 5.4 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N).
