# Oracle REST Data Services: low-privilege HTTP user can read and modify some data

Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) Core, versions 24.2.0 through 26.1.0, has a flaw that lets a low-privileged user send HTTP requests and read or change some of the data ORDS exposes. The attack is hard to carry out, and the sources report no effect on availability.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed ORDS version with `java -jar ords.war version` or the ORDS admin console, and see whether it falls within `24.2.0` to `26.1.0`.

## Fix

- Move ORDS to a release newer than `26.1.0` as published in Oracle's Critical Patch Update advisories.

## Timeline
