# vtenext: reflected cross-site scripting in home widget list lets scripts run

vtenext before 25.02.2 echoes unsanitized widgetId keys from the widgetInfoList parameter in HomeWidgetBlockList.php. An attacker who tricks a logged-in user into submitting a crafted POST request can run JavaScript inside that user's vtenext session.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed vtenext version in the application's version file or admin panel and compare it to `25.02.2`.
- Look for `modules/Home/HomeWidgetBlockList.php` in the deployed code and confirm whether it echoes `widgetId` values without escaping.

## Fix

- vtenext versions before `25.02.2` are affected; move to `25.02.2` or later.

## From the sources

vtenext before 25.02.2 contains a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability in modules/Home/HomeWidgetBlockList.php that echoes unsanitized widgetId keys from the widgetInfoList JSON parameter. Attackers can induce a logged-in user to submit a crafted POST request with HTML in widgetId keys, executing JavaScript in the victim's vtenext session.
