# Concurrent execution using shared resource with improper synchronization ('race condition') in Windows Kernel allows…

A race condition in the Windows kernel lets a local user with low privileges escalate to SYSTEM. CISA lists it as actively exploited in the wild.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Fix

Apply the Microsoft security update for CVE-2025-62215 per vendor instructions; the sources do not name the patched build.
If no mitigation is available, CISA says to discontinue use of the product.

## From the sources

Microsoft Windows Kernel contains a race condition vulnerability that allows a local attacker with low-level privileges to escalate privileges. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could enable the attacker to gain SYSTEM-level access.

CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions, follow applicable BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
