# This issue was addressed with improved checks

Apple iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and visionOS contain an unspecified memory-handling flaw that is triggered when the device processes a maliciously crafted photo or video shared via an iCloud Link. The sources do not say what an attacker gains beyond that, but CISA lists it as actively exploited.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

- vendor:apple iphone os affected >= 16.0, <= 16.7.11 fixed ?
- vendor:apple iphone os affected >= 17.0, <= 18.3.1 fixed ?
- vendor:apple macos affected >= 13.0, < 13.7.4 fixed 13.7.4
- vendor:apple macos affected >= 14.0, < 14.7.4 fixed 14.7.4
- vendor:apple macos affected >= 15.0, < 15.3.1 fixed 15.3.1
- vendor:apple visionos affected < 2.3.1 fixed 2.3.1
- vendor:apple watchos affected < 11.3.1 fixed 11.3.1

## How to check

Check the installed OS version on each Apple device (Settings > General > About on iOS/iPadOS; About This Mac on macOS) against Apple's security release notes.

## Fix

Update iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and visionOS to the latest release from Apple; CISA's required action is to apply the vendor mitigations.

## From the sources

This issue was addressed with improved checks. This issue is fixed in iOS 15.8.4 and iPadOS 15.8.4, iOS 16.7.11 and iPadOS 16.7.11, iOS 18.3.1 and iPadOS 18.3.1, iPadOS 17.7.5, macOS Sequoia 15.3.1, macOS Sonoma 14.7.4, macOS Ventura 13.7.4, visionOS 2.3.1, watchOS 11.3.1. A logic issue existed when processing a maliciously crafted photo or video shared via an iCloud Link. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals.
