# A memory corruption issue was addressed with improved bounds checking

Apple's iOS, iPadOS, macOS and other products have a memory corruption bug in how they process audio streams inside a crafted media file. An attacker who gets a victim to open such a file can run code on the device.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Apple Multiple Products affected ? fixed ?
- vendor:apple macos affected >= 15.0, < 15.4.1 fixed 15.4.1
- vendor:apple tvos affected < 18.4.1 fixed 18.4.1
- vendor:apple visionos affected < 2.4.1 fixed 2.4.1
- vendor:apple ipados affected < 18.4.1 fixed 18.4.1
- vendor:apple iphone os affected < 18.4.1 fixed 18.4.1
- vendor:apple watchos affected < 11.5 fixed 11.5

## Fix

Update Apple devices to the latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS and related releases from Apple; the specific fixed versions are not stated in the sources.

## From the sources

A memory corruption issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in iOS 18.4.1 and iPadOS 18.4.1, macOS Sequoia 15.4.1, tvOS 18.4.1, visionOS 2.4.1, watchOS 11.5. Processing an audio stream in a maliciously crafted media file may result in code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on versions of iOS released before iOS 18.4.1.
