# Certain EOL GeoVision devices fail to properly filter user input for the specific functionality

GeoVision network video devices contain an OS command injection flaw that lets a remote, unauthenticated attacker run arbitrary system commands on the device. The vendor has been exploited in the wild, and the affected products may be end-of-life or end-of-service.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

Identify any GeoVision devices on the network and record their model and firmware version, then compare against the vendor advisory listed in the sources (unknown whether a specific version list is given).
Check whether the device is internet-reachable from outside the network.

## Fix

Apply the vendor mitigation per the GeoVision advisory; the sources do not name a fixed version.
If no mitigation is available, discontinue use of the affected device, as CISA directs.

## From the sources

Multiple GeoVision devices contain an OS command injection vulnerability that allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to inject and execute arbitrary system commands. The impacted products could be end-of-life (EoL) and/or end-of-service (EoS). Users should discontinue product utilization.

CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions, follow applicable BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
