# In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: usb-audio: Fix potential out-of-bound…

The Linux kernel's USB audio driver has an out-of-bounds memory access that a malicious USB device can trigger. An attacker with physical access could manipulate kernel memory, escalate privileges, or run arbitrary code.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 4.20, < 5.4.287 fixed 5.4.287
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 5.5, < 5.10.231 fixed 5.10.231
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 5.11, < 5.15.174 fixed 5.15.174
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 5.16, < 6.1.120 fixed 6.1.120
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 6.2, < 6.6.64 fixed 6.6.64
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 6.7, < 6.11.11 fixed 6.11.11
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 6.12, < 6.12.2 fixed 6.12.2
- vendor:debian linux affected = 11.0 fixed ?
- vendor:Linux Kernel affected ? fixed ?

## Fix

Apply the kernel vendor's mitigation or patched kernel per the distribution's advisory; the sources do not name a fixed version.

## From the sources

Linux Kernel contains an out-of-bounds access vulnerability in the USB-audio driver that allows an attacker with physical access to the system to use a malicious USB device to potentially manipulate system memory, escalate privileges, or execute arbitrary code.

CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions, follow applicable BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
