# In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: uvcvideo: Skip parsing frames of type…

The Linux kernel's USB Video Class driver has an out-of-bounds write in uvc_parse_streaming. A person with physical access to the machine can plug in a crafted USB camera device to escalate privileges.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 4.20, < 5.4.286 fixed 5.4.286
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 5.5, < 5.10.230 fixed 5.10.230
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 5.11, < 5.15.172 fixed 5.15.172
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 5.16, < 6.1.117 fixed 6.1.117
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 6.2, < 6.6.61 fixed 6.6.61
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 6.7, < 6.11.8 fixed 6.11.8
- vendor:linux kernel affected >= 6.12, < 6.12.1 fixed 6.12.1
- vendor:Linux Kernel affected ? fixed ?

## Fix

Update to a patched Linux kernel from your distribution; the sources do not name the fixed version.
CISA says to apply vendor mitigations or stop using the affected product if none exist.

## From the sources

Linux kernel contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the uvc_parse_streaming component of the USB Video Class (UVC) driver that could allow for physical escalation of privilege.

CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
