# Out of bounds memory access in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 120.0.6099.224 allowed a remote attacker to potentially…

Google Chromium's V8 JavaScript engine has an out-of-bounds memory access bug that a remote attacker can trigger with a crafted HTML page to corrupt heap memory. The same flaw affects other browsers built on Chromium, including Chrome, Edge and Opera.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Google Chromium V8 affected ? fixed ?
- vendor:google chrome affected < 120.0.6099.224 fixed 120.0.6099.224
- vendor:fedoraproject fedora affected = 38 fixed ?
- vendor:fedoraproject fedora affected = 39 fixed ?
- vendor:couchbase server affected < 7.2.5 fixed 7.2.5

## How to check

Check the installed browser version (for example chrome://version or edge://settings/help) and compare it with the fixed release in the vendor advisory.

## Fix

Update Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera and other Chromium-based browsers to a release that includes the vendor fix for CVE-2024-0519.
CISA says to apply the vendor mitigations or stop using the affected product if none are available.

## From the sources

Google Chromium V8 Engine contains an out-of-bounds memory access vulnerability that allows a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. This vulnerability could affect multiple web browsers that utilize Chromium, including, but not limited to, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Opera.

CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
