# A use-after-free issue was addressed with improved memory management

Apple macOS, iOS, iPadOS and Safari 16.6 have a use-after-free bug triggered by processing maliciously crafted web content. An attacker can corrupt memory by getting a victim to load a page, which can lead to code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Apple Multiple Products affected ? fixed ?
- vendor:apple safari affected < 16.6 fixed 16.6
- vendor:apple ipados affected < 15.8.7 fixed 15.8.7
- vendor:apple ipados affected >= 16.0, < 16.6 fixed 16.6
- vendor:apple iphone os affected < 15.8.7 fixed 15.8.7
- vendor:apple iphone os affected >= 16.0, < 16.6 fixed 16.6
- vendor:apple macos affected < 13.5 fixed 13.5

## How to check

Check the installed OS and Safari versions (macOS: Apple menu > About This Mac; iOS/iPadOS: Settings > General > About). Versions older than the fixed release are exposed.

## Fix

Update macOS, iOS, iPadOS and Safari to the fixed versions Apple published for CVE-2023-43000; the sources do not name the exact build numbers. If updates cannot be applied, follow the CISA/vendor mitigation guidance.

## From the sources

Apple macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Safari 16.6 contain a use-after-free vulnerability due to the processing of maliciously crafted web content that may lead to memory corruption.

CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions, follow applicable BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
