# IBM Aspera Faspex 4.4.2 Patch Level 1 and earlier could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the…

IBM Aspera Faspex has a YAML deserialization flaw that lets a remote attacker execute code on the server. CISA lists it as actively exploited, and ransomware use is tagged in the source.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:IBM Aspera Faspex affected ? fixed ?
- vendor:ibm aspera faspex affected <= 4.4.1 fixed ?
- vendor:ibm aspera faspex affected = 4.4.2 fixed ?

## Fix

Apply the IBM update for Aspera Faspex per vendor instructions; the exact fixed version is not in the sources.

## From the sources

IBM Aspera Faspex 4.4.2 Patch Level 1 and earlier could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by a YAML deserialization flaw. By sending a specially crafted obsolete API call, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the system. The obsolete API call was removed in Faspex 4.4.2 PL2. IBM X-Force ID: 243512.
