# An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking

Apple iOS and macOS contain an out-of-bounds write flaw in WebKit-style content processing. A malicious web page can run code on the device when it is opened.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

Settings > General > Software Update on iOS, or Apple menu > About This Mac on macOS, and compare the build with the patched version in Apple's advisory.

## Fix

Update iOS and macOS to a release that includes Apple's fix for CVE-2022-32893; CISA requires applying the vendor update.

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in iOS 15.6.1 and iPadOS 15.6.1, macOS Monterey 12.5.1, Safari 15.6.1. Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.
