# Elastic Kibana: Kibana Arbitrary Code Execution

Elastic Kibana's Timelion visualizer contains a flaw that allows arbitrary code execution. An attacker who can send requests to Kibana can run commands on the server hosting it.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Elastic Kibana affected ? fixed ?

## How to check

Check the Kibana version against the vendor advisory; versions before the fix are affected. unknown

## Fix

Upgrade Kibana to a fixed release per vendor instructions. Specific fixed version: unknown

## From the sources

Kibana versions before 5.6.15 and 6.6.1 contain an arbitrary code execution flaw in the Timelion visualizer. An attacker with access to the Timelion application could send a request that will attempt to execute javascript code. This could possibly lead to an attacker executing arbitrary commands with permissions of the Kibana process on the host system.
