# Cisco VPN Routers: Cisco VPN Routers Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Unauthenticated remote code execution as root, plus DoS, through the web interface of Cisco RV132W ADSL2+ and RV134W VDSL2 Wireless VPN routers (CVSS 9.8). Cisco lists no workarounds. CISA KEV lists it as exploited.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Cisco VPN Routers affected ? fixed ?
- vendor:Cisco RV132W ADSL2+ Wireless-N VPN Router affected < 1.0.1.11 fixed 1.0.1.11
- vendor:Cisco RV134W VDSL2 Wireless-AC VPN Router affected < 1.0.1.11 fixed 1.0.1.11

## How to check

Open the router's web UI firmware page, or run 'show version' if you have CLI access. RV132W or RV134W on firmware older than 1.0.1.11 is vulnerable. Also check whether the web management interface is reachable from the internet.

## Fix

Upgrade RV132W and RV134W firmware to 1.0.1.11 or later. Cisco's later advisory for a different CVE recommends 1.0.1.15 or later (RV132W) and 1.0.1.21 or later (RV134W), so move to the latest release. Restrict WAN access to the management interface. These models are end-of-life, so plan to replace them.

- 2026-10-23T21:20:31+00:00 analyst — Cisco advisory cisco-sa-20180207-rv13x: affects RV132W and RV134W only; CVE record says fixed in 1.0.1.11. Exploited status from KEV. No public PoC checked. A later, separate advisory (cisco-sa-rv-132w134w-overflow-Pptt4H2p) lists 1.0.1.15 (RV132W) and 1.0.1.21 (RV134W) for a different bug, which I did not link to this CVE.

## From the sources

A vulnerability in the web interface of the Cisco RV132W ADSL2+ Wireless-N VPN and RV134W VDSL2 Wireless-AC VPN Routers could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code and gain full control of an affected system, including issuing commands with root privileges. The attacker could also cause an affected system to reload, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition. The vulnerability is due to an incomplete input validation on user-controlled input in an HTTP request to the targeted device. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted HTTP request to an affected system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code as the root user and gain full control of the affected system or cause it to reload, resulting in a DoS condition. This vulnerability is fixed in firmware version 1.0.1.11 for the following Cisco products: RV132W ADSL2+ Wireless-N VPN Router and RV134W VDSL2 Wireless-AC VPN Router. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvg92737, CSCvh60170.
