# Jenkins versions 2.56 and earlier as well as 2.46.1 LTS and earlier are vulnerable to an unauthenticated remote code…

Jenkins has a remote code execution flaw in its remoting-based CLI, where a crafted serialized Java SignedObject bypasses the blocklist that normally blocks dangerous deserialization. An attacker who can reach the CLI port can run code on the Jenkins controller, and CISA lists it as actively exploited.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Jenkins Jenkins affected ? fixed ?
- vendor:jenkins affected <= 2.56 fixed ?
- vendor:jenkins affected <= 2.46.1 fixed ?
- vendor:oracle communications cloud native core automated test suite affected = 1.9.0 fixed ?

## Fix

Upgrade Jenkins to a release that includes the fix for CVE-2017-1000353, or apply the vendor mitigations; the sources do not name the fixed version.
CISA says to discontinue use if mitigations are unavailable.

## From the sources

Jenkins versions 2.56 and earlier as well as 2.46.1 LTS and earlier are vulnerable to an unauthenticated remote code execution. An unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability allowed attackers to transfer a serialized Java `SignedObject` object to the Jenkins CLI, that would be deserialized using a new `ObjectInputStream`, bypassing the existing blacklist-based protection mechanism. We're fixing this issue by adding `SignedObject` to the blacklist. We're also backporting the new HTTP CLI protocol from Jenkins 2.54 to LTS 2.46.2, and deprecating the remoting-based (i.e. Java serialization) CLI protocol, disabling it by default.
