# CrushFTP: CSRF lets a lured admin create root users

CrushFTP before 7.3.0 ships with CSRF protection disabled by default, so admin commands can be submitted by a malicious page. An attacker who lures an authenticated administrator can create root-access users or change server configuration.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the CrushFTP version with the server's about page or the install directory, looking for a version below `7.3.0`
- Check whether CSRF protection is enabled in the CrushFTP server settings: unknown

## Fix

- Upgrade CrushFTP to `7.3.0` or later
- Enable CSRF protection in the server settings if upgrading is not possible: unknown

## Timeline

## From the sources

CrushFTP before 7.3.0 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability that allows attackers to perform administrative actions because CSRF protection is disabled by default. Attackers can lure an authenticated administrator to a malicious page that submits POST requests to commands like setUserItem, creating root-access users or changing server configuration.
