# Microsoft Windows: Microsoft Windows Code Injection Vulnerability

CVE-2014-6352 is a Windows OLE remote code execution flaw. Microsoft rates it Important and fixed it in MS14-064 on 2014-11-11 with KB3010788. An attacker needs a user to open a crafted OLE object, for example through a web page in Internet Explorer. The code runs with the user's rights. CISA lists it as exploited.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Microsoft Windows affected ? fixed ?
- vendor:Microsoft Windows affected Vista SP2, Server 2008 SP2, Windows 7 SP1, Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows 8, 8.1, Server 2012, 2012 R2, RT, RT 8.1 without KB3010788 fixed KB3010788 (MS14-064)

## How to check

Check whether KB3010788 is installed: run 'wmic qfe get HotFixID | findstr 3010788' or 'Get-HotFix -Id KB3010788' in PowerShell. If it is missing, the host is exposed. Windows Server 2003 and Server Core installations are not affected by this CVE. The edition list is in the bulletin.

## Fix

Install KB3010788 from MS14-064 (also KB3006226 for CVE-2014-6332 in the same bulletin). All the affected systems are long out of support, so move to a supported Windows release.

## From the sources

Microsoft Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 Gold and R2, and Windows RT Gold and 8.1 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted OLE object, as exploited in the wild in October 2014 with a crafted PowerPoint document.
